A |     Chinese President Xi Jinping stressed on Monday that four principles should be followed to push for the resolution of the Palestinian question, which is at the heart of the Middle East issue.    Xi made the remarks in talks with King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein in Beijing.        First, a political settlement should be upheld. The two-state solution is the right direction, and efforts should be made to restart peace talks between Palestine and Israel, with a view to establishing an independent Palestinian state at an early date, Xi said.    Second, the principle of "Palestinians governing Palestine" should be followed in advancing the governance of the West Bank and the post-war reconstruction of Gaza, he said.    Third, humanitarian principles must be upheld. The international community, and the UN Security Council in particular, should shoulder its responsibility effectively to protect civilian safety, ensure the flow of humanitarian assistance, and put an end to humanitarian disasters, Xi said.    Fourth, fairness and justice must be upheld. This means following international law, addressing both symptoms and root causes, and taking practical actions so that the Palestinian question can be resolved in a comprehensive, just and lasting way at an early date, he said.    On the Middle East situation, Xi said China has always advocated a comprehensive ceasefire and end of hostilities, and resolving disputes through political and diplomatic means, adding that the sovereignty and security of Jordan and all other countries in the region should be respected.    Noting Jordan appreciates China's impartial stance on Middle East affairs and its support for the just cause of Arab countries, King Abdullah II said Jordan is ready to maintain close communication with China and continue to make active efforts for de-escalation.                    。    China and Tanzania are set to deepen financial cooperation and expand the use of the Chinese currency renminbi (RMB), or the yuan, in cross-border trade and investment, as the Bank of China on Tuesday hosted an RMB internationalization roadshow in Tanzania.    The event, the 10th stop of the Bank of China's 2026 global use of RMB roadshow series, brought together more than 140 representatives from the Chinese Embassy in Tanzania, the Bank of Tanzania, major financial institutions and businesses from both countries to explore new opportunities for RMB cooperation.    Speaking at the event, Chinese Ambassador to Tanzania Chen Mingjian said growing economic and trade ties between the two countries had created increasing demand for efficient, convenient and low-cost RMB-based settlement and financing services in Tanzania.    "Bilateral trade between China and Tanzania reached 11.28 billion U.S. dollars in 2025, exceeding 10 billion U.S. dollars for the first time," Chen said, adding that trade reached 6.48 billion dollars in the first half of 2026.    China has remained Tanzania's largest trading partner and a major source of foreign direct investment for many consecutive years, she said.    Yun Yi, deputy general manager of the clearing department at Bank of China Head Office, said the bank would continue to leverage its global network and role as a major provider of cross-border RMB services to support the wider use of the Chinese currency in China-Africa trade and investment.    He said the bank would further enhance RMB financial services and facilitate practical cooperation across a wide range of sectors, contributing to higher-quality China-Africa economic and trade cooperation.                    。
